Receptacles and Plugs - Binding Posts and Lugs - Hospital Ground and Power Outlets - Plug and Receptacle Components

Hampden Receptacles and Plugs

All Hampden receptacles, plugs, binding posts, and lugs are manufactured from the highest quality materials. All split-pin parts are machined from a modern engineering copper-base alloy that combines the desirable characteristics of high conductivity, high fatigue strength, and superior corrosion resistance.

The components listed here are interchangeable with similar single-pole plugs and receptacles formerly manufactured by Standard Electric Time Company. Shipments may be made the same day as ordered, provided complete identifying information is given. Hampden Receptacles and Plugs are listed by Underwriters' Laboratories, Inc.

Hampden Binding Posts and Lugs

Hampden heavy duty binding posts accept lugs and solid or stranded wire under the shoulder or they accept test probes, banana plugs, and HP-1P pin connectors in the receptacle on the head. Tamper-proof design utilizes captive heads which do not expose any threads, even when fully open. The extra-heavy stud adds to the strength and durability, while providing for the largest possible wire hole. Available in ten standard colors.

All receptacles and binding posts are available in the following colors: Black, Dark Blue, Grey, Dark Green, White, Maroon, Pink, Orange, Red, and Yellow.

Hospital Plug and Receptacle Components

Hampden Grounding Cord Sets are widely used in hospitals, particularly in electrically susceptible patient locations, such as the Intensive Care Units, to assure that all conductive surfaces within reach of the patient (or anyone who may touch the patient) are at a common electrical potential.

MVO-1-PB Ground Integrity Tester

The Hampden Ground Integrity Tester provides a simple and convenient method of assuring the proper operation of hospital ground systems.

Description

for more detail

The Hampden Ground Integrity Tester is available either wall-mounted or portable. It is enclosed in a high-impact plastic case, 5-1/4"H x 6-7/8"W x 2-3/8"D. (1.35 cm x 17.5 cm x 6 cm). The portable model weighs 2-1/4 pounds (approx. 1 kg.).

Green and red segments on the large (3" effective length) scale separate permissible values of ohms and millivolts from those considered too high. Internal power is supplied by a standard 9-volt (transistor) battery.

Ground Integrity Tester

Two test leads are provided:
  1. The OHMS test lead is #10 AWG fine stranded neoprene-covered wire, 3 feet long. One end terminates with a lug that clamps under the binding post shoulder. The other end is a test prod, which is touched to grounded surfaces during tests.
  2. The COMMON test lead is #10 AWG fine stranded neoprene-covered wire, 10 feet long. One end terminates with a lug that clamps under the binding post shoulder. The other end plugs into the reference grounding receptacle. It is a code-approved locking-type plug with a green rubber handle.

Features
Features of the Ground Integrity Tester:
  • Measures both resistance and potential difference.
  • Large, legible numerals permit exact readings.
  • Color-coded scale provides qualitative testing.
  • Meter is self-calibrating to internal standard.
  • Ohms scale is zeroed without shorting leads.
  • Uses easily obtainable 9-volt battery.
  • Convenient access to battery compartment.
  • Battery condition internally monitored.
Model # MVO-60HZ-IT Impedance Tester

Purpose
The Hampden 60 Hertz Impedance Tester provides a simple and convenient method of Grounding System Testing as recommended in paragraph 3-3.3.2.4 of NFPA Health Care Facilities Standard, Number 99, as stated below:

"The impedance measurement for new construction shall be the ratio of the 60 Hz or at DC voltage, developed between a point under test and a reference point, to 60 Hz or at DC current applied to the point under test."

Description

The Hampden 60 Hertz Impedance Tester is designed to couple to the Hampden Ground Integrity Tester which is designed for voltage measurements and existing construction impedance measurements.

The Impedance Tester connects to the Ground Integrity tester using hook-on copper straps under the binding posts. The Ground Integrity Tester cord set is then connected to the 60 Hertz Impedance Tester. Calibration instructions are permanently attached to the bottom of the unit.

The 60 Hertz Impedance Tester provides a 60 Hertz signal, through a step-down isolating transformer, and associated circuitry at the test leads, which can be applied to the ground circuit being tested.

The impedance of the circuit being tested is read directly on the ohms range of the integral meter of the Ground Integrity Tester. For the test, the 60 Hertz Impedance Tester supplies less than 20 millivolts across the ground circuit at 0.1 ohm read on the Ground Integrity Tester ohms scale. The 60 Hertz open circuit voltage of the 60 Hertz Impedance Tester is less than 135 millivolts.
